My week looks a little different than I originally anticipated. A few days ago Caroline & I were gearing up to drive down to Ft. Lauderdale for the Tropical Plant International Expo. We were beyond thrilled for the opportunity, but after much consideration decided it would be better to wait until next year with our incoming inclement winter weather. Safety is our first priority, and especially in our line of business, it always pays to be mindful of the weather.

With that in mind, how much rain did you receive yesterday? If you worry you did not get sufficient precipitation to ensure root insulation, go ahead and give your plantings some extra water today. Remove that hose and bring it inside when you’re done to keep it safe from the freezing temps. While you’re at it, might as well shake out the tarp for draping over the car tomorrow night. There’s nothing more frustrating than trying to get into a thoroughly iced vehicle. If we only get snow, you can remove it all in one fell swoop, ensuring no fellow motorists get “snowbombed” on roads.

If this weather is as intense as they’re forecasting, we are likely to be closed for several days. We are planning to be closed on Saturday, but it may spill into the following week.
