NOW OPEN Monday - Saturday 9 am - 4 pm; Sunday Noon - 4 pm!

We are in the middle of a stretch of fantastic weather. The kind that gets you giddy, where inspiration flows with no resistance. Everything seems possible on a sunny day. Gratefully, despite years in the business, we are not immune to this phenomenon. The trucks continue to roll in, and with each of them more possibilities. It’s easy to get overwhelmed, but remember you already have two very important pieces of information: what you like and what you dislike. We are happy to help you digest the details, round out design plans, and pull your dreams into focus!

For those of you ready to plant, we have received our first shipment of cold crops: broccoli, Brussels sprouts, chard, cabbage, cauliflower, kale, and strawberries. That last one might be surprising, but they’re a lot tougher than we give them credit for! A popular mixed planting with strawberries is garlic, of which we just received four varieties: California, Elephant, Nootka Rose, and Transylvanian. We also have a few trays of herbs: chives, cilantro, lavender, lemongrass, peppermint, spearmint, oregano, parsley, and rosemary. As with all of the plants I’ve mentioned, we likely have a few varieties of each. If you’re looking for something specific, please  give us a call! We also got in some newer citrus varieties — Buddha’s Hand & Pink Variegated Lemon. If you’re looking for an edible plant with an incredibly fragranced bloom, consider adding a citrus to your collection.

Lastly, I cannot let this week pass without giving a special Happy Birthday shoutout to the greatest boss and father a person could ask for — David Bates. He is an incredibly thoughtful, intelligent, hilarious, kind, and deeply beautiful human being. The effort and love he has put into this place is evident everywhere you look, and I am honored to be a part of this family and business with him!

That’s it for this week, friends. Get your Gardening Inside Out fix Saturday mornings at 8 am. Stay on top of the season with the podcast. Follow us on Instagram for the Know Down: your weekly dose of plant knowledge and hilarity. We can’t wait to see you soon!

Happy Gardening,

Sara Bates
