Defrosting

I hope this email finds you warm and well-rested. This weather has provided us all with an excuse to slow down. We fared well, thankfully, as we did not receive the maximum amount of snow and ice predicted. Thanks to this good fortune, we have reopened today. Our parking lots have melted and dried from days of sunshine, and we welcome all those suffering from cabin fever or dreaming of Spring.
It may be difficult to conjure images of warm days full of blooms while itās all white and crunchy outside. We get it! I doubt you would catch any of us digging holes right now. However, thereās much that can be said for the quiet moments of inspiration. Yesterday I tucked into the greenhouse to check on the houseplants. Being surrounded by green in the depths of winter is a divine experience words struggle to capture. If you are feeling the āwinter bluesā, we invite you to come take a stroll through our aisles to reconvene with nature.
If thatās not enough to Sustainā¢Ā you, our seed starting suppliesĀ have been replenished. Whether you like to use egg cartons, chickenariums, last yearās annual flats, or prefer a fresh start, we have the best soils and seeds for the job and know how to help you achieve success. Nowās a good time to start your cool season veggies, herbs, and peppers from seed to get them ready for May. For those with great experience in patience, we have cactus seedsĀ too!
Before we part, I want to wish a Happy Birthday to Julie Patterson, who has been a dear member of our team for over three decades. Julie is the mind behind our vast selection of shrubs and trees; quite frankly, our operation wouldnāt function without her expertise. We are so grateful for her years of dedication.
Thatās it for this week, friends. We should be in the clear in terms of closings, but you can always check our website for clarification. Tune in Saturday mornings at 8 amĀ for Gardening Inside Out, and queue up the podcastĀ for your next journey to the grocery store. Gather inspiration on our Instagram. Weāll see you soon!
Happy Gardening,
Sara Bates
