Many fruit and ornamental trees await you!
Many fruit and ornamental trees await you!

Fall is upon us! We have been working hard to bring in the finest selection of edible trees and shrubs, and it looks like the weather is set to cool off next week. The hard part may be pairing down your wishlist, but you can potentially combine your plantings for added benefits.

If you’ve been tempted by the many varieties of blueberries we have to offer, try pairing them with other acid lovers like strawberries, which grow low beneath the shrub’s heights. Adding an herb like chives will increase the appeal of your garden to beneficial insects, and its pretty pink blooms look phenomenal in spring salads. There’s no shortage of the edible wonders we have to offer. From native selections like paw paw, persimmons, serviceberries, and mulberries to more exotic plants like olives, citrus, pineapple, and even striped figs, we are excited to help you fulfill your garden dreams.

A specialty that is sure to wow friends and neighbors alike is a combination espalier tree. We have a few of these wonders in stock — a “fruit cocktail” tree (boasting peach, plum, nectarine, and apricot), a five variety cherry combo, and a five variety pear combo. These delights provide not only a bountiful harvest but also a stellar architectural component that will inspire you for years to come.

Elderberries are a staple of herbal medicine, and one of our favorite native plants with fabulous fall color. Their fruit, when cooked, can help boost immunity and makes a tasty syrup for sore throats and pancakes alike. When planted with buckwheat, you’ve got two ingredients towards a tasty meal, and the added benefit of two nitrogen fixing plants!

We still have plenty of trucks rolling through in the weeks to come, so if you haven’t seen that plant of your dreams on our website yet, check back in soon! We’re hoping to get a new shipment from Iseli next week, fingers crossed.

That’s it for this week! Check out Gardening Inside Out on Saturday mornings at 8am on YouTube and Facebook. Follow us on Instagram to see what’s new on the Know Down with Caroline & Austin. Queue up the podcast for your next roadtrip. We look forward to seeing you!
