Shifting Gears and Father's Day

Last Sunday open until September; FREE* vegetable plants!
Father’s Day is timely; the need now arises to remind conifer lovers to spray/treat for bagworms and spider mites. For those gardeners wanting to take the most organic and earth-friendly approach, I suggest Captain Jack’s Deadbug Brew. Captain Jack’s Deadbug Brew contains Spinosad®, a trusted organic chemical used extensively in organic fruit production; does a good job on both spider mites and bagworms…as long as you apply now. Both pests are either in juvenile or low infestation stage now, that will change quickly. Failure to act fast will likely result in needing to take more aggressive approach by using stronger chemical insecticides.
Something to remember: Water. It is easy to become lulled into a sense of security when rainfall is plentiful and regular. Be mindful of new plantings, as it gets hotter and drier. Make special preparations for plant care while you’re on vacation. Consider asking a neighbor who has similar watering needs. Perhaps you could water their plants while they’re away, and they reciprocate during your absence.
Another thought: Fertilizer. Most folks have made the transition to organic fertilizer. That is good. The singular downside is the release time. Some chemical fertilizers may last many months or an entire year. Organics need monthly re-application. Mark your calendar.
Displayed out-front in the parking lot, we have rolling racks loaded with the last of the springtime vegetables and herbs. These are free* for the taking; first come, first served. When you arrive, you should probably take care of securing those plants first, by putting them in your vehicle. After doing so, you can peruse around, without fear of missing out! Don’t forget to bring photos of areas you need a bit of direction on, (and also ‘show and tell’).
Saturday morning, live at 8 AM, we engage your gardening questions…with answers: “Gardening Inside Out”. Listen to our Podcast anytime! Follow and contact us: Facebook. YouTube. Instagram.
This is our last Sunday to be open. Beginning Monday, our hours change: Mon-Sat 9am-4pm; Closed Sundays.
Happy Father’s Day!
