May Spring

Extended mild conditions throughout the month, have been a welcome, albeit unexpected gift.
This May has brought Nashville and the surrounding communities an extraordinary and unseasonably mild spring, at least with regard to temperature. Rather than swiftly transitioning to summer’s intense heat, we've enjoyed persistently mild weather, creating perfect conditions for outdoor activities and, of course, gardening. The temperatures have remained pleasantly moderate, offering us gardeners an extended opportunity to plant, prune, and prepare our outdoor spaces without the typical urgency imposed by early heat waves.
Yet, the pleasant temperatures have not come without concern. The same mild fronts that have delighted our region have also carried threats of severe storms. Sadly, in some areas, particularly in southern Kentucky, these threats materialized dramatically, leaving extensive paths of destruction in their wake. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies remain with those communities affected, and we extend our heartfelt wishes for a swift recovery.
In Nashville, however, we've been fortunate. Amidst our relief and gratitude, let’s take a moment to truly appreciate this unexpected gift of extended springtime. Nature has provided us with bonus days of perfect gardening weather—an invitation to savor these moments fully before the inevitable heat of summer arrives.
