Strange how time can at once ‘crawl’ and be a ‘fleeting thing’.  Timing is what Sara discussed last week; critically important to our gardening efforts. Timing is the sense and knowledge of when. Only time will tell if we actually act upon that information. Time on the other hand, is both measured and perceived.

The digital world we live in is accurate to the millisecond. Our ‘walkaround’ devices are on the ‘NTP’, or Network Time Protocol (professional stock trading is done on ‘PTP’, precision time protocol; at least an order of magnitude faster.  You can’t ‘out-click’ their systems…I digress). These scales of time are imperceivable; we all know what time it is, but our realization of time, moment to moment is highly variable.

Something to ponder.  I believe most have a general sense that time passes much slower when we’re young.  As we age, that sense changes…dramatically.  As I now approach 70 years of age, months often seem like weeks, and weeks like days.  It’s a bit of a blur.  When we’re children, the time from one birthday to another seems to be FOREVER! Here’s my thought experiment for you: If you agree with my prior time assessment, how old were you, when a year ‘seemed’ like an actual year?  It is amazing to me the range of responses I receive.

For me, dread is an advanced form of projection.  I know ‘how’ to do something, but frequently spend more time pondering the project, than it will actually take. For those mathematically wired, my equation looks like this: dread + projection = procrastination.  I encourage you to be aware of this simple math expression; but avoid at all costs.

One thing I hope you can find time for is: “Gardening Inside Out”. You can listen to our Podcast anytime! Follow and contact us:  FacebookYouTubeInstagram.  We broadcast “LIVE” every Saturday morning at 8am, without dread; all projection is on your favorite device!
